busy busy busy busy busy busy fuck!

I am SO sorry I have been missing-in-action.

Here’s a quick overview of what I’ve been up to:

  • 40 hours of work at Madonna SAF: ugh! I love working and all but it is not the business when I’m a night owl and I have morning shifts to cover.  Jerry (usual morning shift worker) got punched in the face by a Living Room client and so he has been out recovering and taking a sick-leave.
  •  Interview processes for Mercy Housing: Interview went well! Ate Amy and I tag teamed cause we were both interviewed together.  I should anticipate to hear from them this coming week.  Tito Bonjun said I shouldn’t worry, he talked to Cathy.  Hopefully I get full-time or part-time.  either way, this means it is likely I’ll have to leave PetSmart soon enough
  • Petsmart 17 hours this week: Pretty low.  But next week I’m working 30 hours haha! Sure is funny how life successfully finds equilibrium.  No breaks! Oh, there are two new employees- Devan & Suzanne.  Sandra was telling me how Suzanne has been making her go crazy.  Giving the wrong change, kind of boring– i’d say she’s lacking.  After working more with Devan today, she seems cool.  They both need to be more attentive.
  •  Developmental psychology readings for week 3, chapter notes, discussion questions, and week 3 assignment; ugh hella prenatal development, pregnancy-kind-of topics! I want kids so bad! Miles need to andalay! hehe. jk. (not really!) Oh and is Jeianne pregnant?!?!? She has a facebook status saying: “I’m 13 weeks and I’m craving twizzler sticks,” somewhere along those lines.  If she is, I am out of this world.  MAJOR JEALOUSYYYYY!
  • There was a fire downstairs on Saturday early morning 3am; so crazy. Tito Rick is ok–the microwave caught on fire but the smoke was UNBELIEVABLE.  Black smoke everywhere I smelled it all the way to my room and in Ate’s room.  Smell was so potent in my room– I can’t believe how he underwent that.  He couldn’t breathe for a little while after, he went to Seton.  But now all the windows and doors are broken down, messes everywhere! Thanks to the firefighters–fineassfirefighters…anyways!
  • Barangay Dancing: Next solo will be this coming Saturday 630pm– BINASUAN! Been practicing this more and more and I have little troubles towards the ending–I KEEP SPILLING EEEE!
  •  Joined the Barangay Company’s Marketing & Communications Team: My official name is Recruitment Coordinator and Secretary/Clerk.  I basically have been doing so much! On Thursday, we had our monthly Community Dance Workshop and I was teaching these two guys, one guy was super uncoordinated– but I later was told by Tito that they were probably drunk haha! crazies geese.  But anyways– I volunteered to do the minutes and serve as the company’s clerk.  I’ve been getting a bit frustrated because I’ve been doing a lot of work, we have deadlines and no one else is realizing the realities of our projects and deadlines.  My co-team members are slacking, and I mean… I know that it’s tough, everyone has their own thing, everyone is busy–but if it’s too much to handle, why take on the tasks/responsibilities?  Yadadadamean? So i’ve been doing so much administrative work, and I really just want Barangay to thrive.  I’m doing Marketing/Advertisement work, I have to contact people, make 2 versions of PSA’s, complete the compiling list of news organizations, plan the field work, AAAAND make the Community Dance Workshop signs. hehe.  The last one is easy, but still.  But I mean, on the positive side– I’m glad this is scary/real ass work that I’m doing for Barangay.  We’re building to cultivate a strong foundation, and so that we can pass the torch down to next generations.  Good training.  Tita was actually pretty impressed that I know the professional office etiquette– I truly have Krista (City Clerk of SSF), Attorney Gittel Gordon, and my other internship/opportunities with political related events I participated in.  Truly, truly grateful.  Who would have known ?
  • Philippines Trip is coming up!: this also means I need my pasalubongs done! yikes! I’m a little struggling with $krillaz, but I know I need to get pasalubongs for my cousin, Didoy, my 3 God-Children (Booboo, GingGing, & Brian).  Packing might be a challenge since my projects for BDC is on-going and my psyc class. I can’t wait to see the kids & Mama Tina!
  • MOM’S BIRTHDAY IS TODAY (SEPTEMBER 5) ! She is officially 53 years old! wootwoot! Sister & I got her a Louie Vuitton Bag.

The LV speedy 30 Damier.  A total of $840.00
Not bad for Louie Vuitton huh? Bags over there can easily get up to $2,000+
Hope she likes this.  I’ll be getting her flowers from Trader Joes later–which means I have to get up early!

Tomorrows Agenda:

– Get Mom Flowers @ Trader Joes!
– Do laundry
– Insanity (ugh I’m at 210lbs. gained a pound, ano baaaa!)
– Dinner with the family
– Meet up with Truth Esguerra of Philippine News to further our discussions on marketing for Barangay & catch up.
**no work, thank God!

Okay I must get some rest.

Goodnight to all, and to all, a goodnight!

Quickie

Just because I came across this portion of the chapter notes from my psychology professor, and I found it hilarious:

if a heterosexual couple believes they can engage in sexual intercourse and avoid pregnancy by the male withdrawing from the female before he ejaculates, they may be surprised to find themselves shopping at Babies R Us or making other serious decisions.  Please be aware of the Cowper’s gland’s role in unplanned pregnancies. Okay, enough sex education… for now.

LOL. I promise I’ll update you, I know it’s been quite a while–but I have explanations for this, promise promise!

Edit sometime before tomorrow’s sun comes. (:

Hasta luegsz.

Paunjulay Soloist [Debut: August 27, 2011]

So PAUNJULAY:

A pre-nuptial dance of the Yakan people.  The Yakans are a minority group of the Muslim, most-Southern region of the Philippines.  Their distinctive style is that of flexing the feet, very different from most techniques.  Additionally, their dance movements are sharp, defined & quick.  The white face paint is to hide from the evil spirits, before the wedding.

Learning this dance & performing it has awaken the performing artist in me.
I love you, Lao-Lao!

NEXT (goal): BANGA/SALIDSID haaaa! Give me a couple years to learn how to balance 12-16 real pots on my head! It’s a challenge that’s forsure.

Goodnight!

eeeeeeks, serious catching up to do.  It’s 2:38pm on Aug 30 and I’m working at SAF right now, I dont’ think i’ll be able to finish before my shift ends in 22 minutes. But it’s worth getting it started:

Saturday, Aug. 27: Debuted Paunjulay at (Wawa Jay’s youth group based in Oakland) ACPA’s annual show, in Antioch!!!  Oh man, you can’t imagine how nervous I was! I was so excited about my costume and actually doing it on the real stage, in front of a real audience! Audiences don’t really scare me anymore–its easy to just perform now.  I think when you really love what you do, other viewers don’t break you like how it does in the beginning.

Ok, I’m digressing– so we did the 1st Run Through: ugh! it wasn’t that great! It was the first time that we were working out the small transitioning junk, on an actual stage.  Parangal, Kariktan was there too.  Kimmy offered to help me out with some moves and it was really helpful.  I’m even more motivated to perfect that damn dance.  2nd Run Through: Went a lot better, more smoother.  That’s all the time we had.  I went ahead & started on my make-up [which i will be posting up a picture very soon, once I figure it out ahehe] and got the rest of my costume. Then we had to learn a choreo-piece Wawa wanted to end it with called “Palawan March.”  Wawa is brilliant.  He worked on the transitioning between dances; and he made Mentor’s solo, Linggisan, end by going to the corner of the stage, where me and Lao were waiting to go on– and “fetch us” out on stage, as he finishes– and we’ll be at center-stage when he finishes at up-stage left. UGH BRILLIANT.

2:30pm We had cast green-room call & then the show was on.  Ah! At this point I’m freaking out! Felt a bit unprepared.  And then I remembered how much I wanted this dance and how excited I was for it.

Fast forwarding: we were on deck.  Lao was antsy & jumping up and down & pacing.  He kept saying ” i’m so nervous, omg i can’t believe we’re about to perform the most difficult dance in Philippine Folkdance history.” & then I was trying to calm myself down trying to think of the figures–& OMG i couldn’t think of it! I blanked! I was brainfarting really bad.

BRB. Edit later.

Anyways–so yea i was brainfarting! So the dance begun.  And it all just came to me.  Instead of thinking of the next move, it just all came out naturally.  & I think that’s the only way to really go about things. Henry got tired at the end & I think we did pretty good for it to be our first solo.  I want to keep working at it to perfect it.  I had a few tips from Kimmy & I’m going to incorporate & be more aware of my movements during practice.

This Thursday we have our monthly free community dance workshops! I think we’re teaching fan dancing for Singkil.  yayy, excited. I hope new people come.  I really want our membership # to increase; it would really help me thrive as a dancer too and for the foundation of the dance company.  #focused.

WORK: I’ve been working a lot for Madonna SAF, and the transition for Mercy Housing is suppose to happen at the beginning of October.  I’ll be in the Philippines when this happens.  On Monday, I interviewed for a Part-Time/On-Call position; & I recently told the facilitator, Ally, that I’m interested in full-time as well.  This’ll have to change when Spring semester happens.  And it’s pretty convenience because Mercy Housing has a lot of properties around the area, even in Daly City/Pacifica! Hopefully if I do become On-Call for them– I can have a lot of hours jumping from building to building.  I’m very optimistic about this. & if I get something regular/Part-Time/Full-Time: I’m gonna quit at PS just because right now it’s financially hurting me to drive to San Carlos for 4-hour shifts.  It won’t for a while that I can go into the Salon Dept.  #moneyovereverything #moneyonmymind #drake

haha! Plus, I really need to save up to start paying off my Student Loan Debt from UCSD ugh such a waste! But yea $3,669.00 I think with interest 4.5% it’s $4,000+ ugh! So my grace period ends September 18.  I’ll have to start paying in October waah!

OOO randum: I applied for Chase Checkings Account! aww yeeee! I’m thinking about completely transferring from BofA to Chase.  Whaddayathink?

Oh yeeea I premiered my first performance of Pandango Sa Ilaw/Oasias! Can you believe that was the first dance I learned & I never performed it until now? hehe. suhweeeet.

I’m sure that I haven’t fully updated you yet, when I think about it, I’ll come back to mention it.

One love.

preparedness

Hi Aryatny!

Here is how my day went:
-SAF Madonna 7am-3pm: I had my small hot chocolate from the corner doughnut shop–always starts my morning off right! I had apple juice and Blueberry apple sauce.  Pretty busy, lots of requests for cabs from residents & cabs weren’t being compliant! I had to call Luxor, DeSoto & Yellow–waited on the phone for over 10 minutes for each hotline, ruuuuude!  Hmm… shift went by pretty quickly; tried to do some Psyc readings but kind of fayoled on thatttt.  For the most part, I just watched youtube videos/other versions of Paunjulay–tried to find some inspiration that will motivate me to dance it stronger for tomorrows performance.  John the architect was there with two other contractors.  I have my interview for Mercy Housing on Monday 1:40pm & thank god I don’t have work at PetSmart that day and time! yeeeeeeaaay! Then Del came to relieve me.

-Home to nap for 45 minutes; got ready to leave for PetSmart.  Hit Traffic & it sucked pretty bad.  Drivers on that freeway are all super slow & annoying.  I think my stress level heightens everytime I drive to work just cause of the drivers there. aha.

-PetSmart 5pm-10pm: I worked with Melissa, Joe, Sandrav, CindAy & Hector–shift went by pretty fast.  It’s usually like that when I work with my faves aka “Dream Team” CindAy, CindBy, Sandrav, Melissa & Asparagus (the store’s new ugly bird).  I heard Asparagus is biting hard now–its cause he heard everyone talk shit about how ugly he is.  I bet he won’t bite me, he knows i love him from the bottom of my heart. hehe!

-Post PetSmart: I showed CindAy & Sandrav my costume for paunjulay so excite! I was willing to take off my khaki’s in the parking lot LOL. #shitbabyshit.I went home, talked to my director about dance and auditions for the Tagabanuwa Project that Wawa is conducting and other stuff for an hour.  Tita Rons is really hip.  I trust her, I tell her everything about what I think and feel about dancing and my passion for it etc.

– Workout: Cardio Recovery.  I pushed myself to do Insanity, then I rehearsed the piece 5 more times, worked on small things so my body remembers.  Showered & hoping my hair is big and nice & fluffy for tomorrow ahah! But on the positive note: I am officially 209.0 lbs. Started off at 228lbs. #LehGo! (hehe)

Random thoughts: hmm, I only work 16 hours next week at petsmart–weird! I really can’t sleep because of thinking about tomorrow.  And I still wonder why Em didn’t want the solo.. Everyones being really supportive but I just wanna knooow why she declined the offer for the dance.  Tita was like “I would’ve said ‘then why are you here?'” awww shiiaaahhhhiiiet!

K well i hope and pray that tomorrow goes perfectly.  Want to make a lasting impression on the other dance companies and Wawa.  I want to get a lead recommendation for Wawa’s project & maybe for Ethnic.  if i get either or, I will be so damn happy.  And as I’ve mentioned to Tita Rona before: I would have never thought [Philippine Folk]dance would be of such importance for me.  Didn’t know it would be a big part of my life, I had no idea.  Hah, go figure!

Goodnighty.  I’ll edit about how this days go.  For now I will sleep for 6+ hours.

All the best,

MJ

paunjulay debut.

GREAT NEWS: I lost 3 more lbs! Overall weight loss is 18 lbs. awwww yeeeeaaaaa buddy! (:

“Love, can’t you see I’m alone? Can’t you give this fool a chance? A little love, is all I ask, a little kindness in the night.  Please don’t leave me behind.  No don’t tell me love is blind, a little love, is all I ask–and that is all.  Will I ever find another? Maybe he has found another. And as I cry myself to sleep.  I know this love of mine I’ll keep ocean deep.”

This song was stuck in my head all morning at work.
Anyways–Miles called me a little earlier & we talked for a bit.  He called me on his break.  I see that he’s trying and he’s putting in the effort.  But when I said “I miss you.” he did his JTJ laugh: “aha!” and that’s it SO PACKING RUUUUUUUUUHHHDE!
Speaking of the Devil, he just called me right now 12:15p & guess what? yea another chick was asking him 30-40 questions at Foot Action/Foot Locker.  He gets those kind of encounters pretty often.  I keep calling him “Chick Magnet” & he gets upset when I do–but it’s true.

Oh & the minute I mentioned the SF Giants Filipino Heritage Night game, he said ” Oh i’ll check my schedule & i’ll let you know.” –end subj. I’m not sure how sincere he was about checking his schedule.  Didn’t sound enthused.

Anyways. So im working at SAF Madonna 7am-3pm, then PetSmart 5pm-10pm.  After work, i’m gonna go home, put on my costume full set & take pictures & try performing in it [INCLUDING KNEE WALKS YEEKS!]
I’ve got to perfect this.

No space for shortcomings.

I’ll keep you updated Aryatny.

I GOT CASTED!

I GOT CASTED FOR PAUNJULAY! YAY!

“This is hella your year, Joy.” — Mentor

I’ll update later gotta sleep.

_____________________________________________________________
Practice was fun! Em & I went over Paunjulay plenty of times, corrected a few small details about the dance & got casted at the end of practice.  We went over Saturday afternoon’s program: Linggisan, Paunjulay, then Mangalay Tambour! This is probably the best set i’ve ever had.  I love muslim suite! it’s so sexy & dynamic! Then we went over the Barrio program for Saturday evening’s performance. Mentor wanted me to do my first Binasuan solo but both Tito and I were pretty skeptical about doing the double arm move haha! Need to practice a little more. Just a little bit harder.  I”m damn motivated though, no doubt about it.

ah, i’m super nervous about Paunjulay.  I wore the costume that Tito brought & it’s kinda small but it stretches so it’s all good.  I feel SO LEGIT when I wear it–no lie, it’s my favourite costume. I’ll try to take a picture and post it up on here once I figure out how to do it.  I think this is one disadvantage that comes with wordpress & which tumblr does a good job of.  media shenanigans.

Surprisingly, Xavier texted me & requested that we webcam.  And we did.  And I probably had the most fun conversing with a guy, the way we did, in a long time.  Ugh, did i forget to mention how amazingly HOT he is?!?! He told me i’m pretty & beautiful but oh man, my “beauty” does NOT compare to how goooood he looks haha! He mentioned that he likes my nose & he thinks it’s cute. =_= My nose is probably the worst asset I have after fatness, in my opinion.  But nonetheless, I had such a good time webcamming with him ’til I fell asleep.  [;
