Paunjulay Soloist [Debut: August 27, 2011]

So PAUNJULAY:

A pre-nuptial dance of the Yakan people.  The Yakans are a minority group of the Muslim, most-Southern region of the Philippines.  Their distinctive style is that of flexing the feet, very different from most techniques.  Additionally, their dance movements are sharp, defined & quick.  The white face paint is to hide from the evil spirits, before the wedding.

Learning this dance & performing it has awaken the performing artist in me.
I love you, Lao-Lao!

NEXT (goal): BANGA/SALIDSID haaaa! Give me a couple years to learn how to balance 12-16 real pots on my head! It’s a challenge that’s forsure.

Goodnight!
